Luke 2:11 Cross stitched design

Finally, I got the chance to have this design framed. Now it's ready for this coming Christmas season (2015).

I can't even remember when I had this design done, but this one's easy and simple so I was able to finish cross stitching it in just a week or two. If my memory serves me right, this was done when we had our firstborn Leon. But events and circumstances had to set aside the framing of this design. This design was stitched on an Aida cloth using DMC threads as stated in the pattern.

A few weeks ago, I learned that the husband of an office mate has a framing business. To help them with their family business, I thought of having one of my finished projects framed. Alas, when I opened my storage bag, it was this design that was on top. I didn't think twice, thought that it was kinda divine intervention, since, soon will be Christmas, and the message of this design is indeed for the season.

As Luke 2:11 (NIV) says: Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

For the coming holiday season, regardless how we celebrate it, let this be a simple reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. Have a blessed and merry Christmas ahead!

The Last Supper

Being a full time housewife/mom for a few months now, gave me the opportunity to go back to doing cross stitching which is a form of hobby to me. Though it's a hobby, I'm looking at it as a source of additional income for the family.

The Last Supper is the latest addition to my wide collection of cross stitch embroidery which I personally handcrafted.

Cross stitch - Angels

I've been out for a long time, almost a year to be exact, was very busy with so many things, but I was able to squeeze in doing some cross-stitches. Small designs which are easy to do, too easy that I get to finish one design in one day.

Blue Angel - this I gave to our godmother, Je-el, during her birthday

Yellow Angel - I gave to my boss, Anabelle, on her birthday as well

Pink Angel - stays with me at home.
It's now beside our main door to guide us day and night

Watch out for more cute designs in the next posts ;-)

Project 365/11: Happy to be Free Card

Sharing with you one of Haribon Foundation's fund raising items, the Happy to be Free Card. This is an all occasion card as it is blank in the inside. You may use it for whatever purpose or message you would want to impart.

This card is one of the 2 Happy to be Free Card designs Haribon has. Both cards' designs are a collage of the art works of children Haribon members.

Every once in a while Haribon organize an activity for its members. A separate art workshop was organized for its children members. One of the activities was for them to create an artwork out of the available colored paper cut-outs with the theme Happy to be Free, thus the title of the card. These 4 designs were chosen randomly by selected adult members and employees of Haribon. By the way, the octopus design is of my niece Gayle Mangila, who was just 4 years old when she did the design.

Production of the cards was made through the efforts of the ANEST Project funded by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in 2005. The card costs $.25, proceed of the sales goes to other advocacy projects of Haribon Foundation.

Project 365/10; RT#2: Autumn

I do cross stitches, in fact I love doing it. It's more than a hobby to me. It was introduced to me by my best friend in college, and immediately I fell in love with it. Since then I've been doing different designs, some I was able to sell to office mates and friend.

In fact, there's so many finished products in my storage that hasn't been framed yet. One of it is entitled Autumn, 1 of the Four Season series, the others are Winter, Summer and Spring.

Santa Claus collection; Ruby Tuesday #1

I've seriously started collecting Santa Claus figures/items when our son Leon joined the family, to remind us of how great the Lord is in giving gifts we deserve.

Santa in a sleigh, got this in 2007.
Battery operated, sings and moves around
2 Santas hanging on a rope, 2008 (paper mache')
another paper mache' Santa on a parachute, 2009
Christmas stockings with Santa Bear, 2010

wondering why the 2 paper mache' Santas are in the house? It's quite impractical to put them outdoors because of the unpredictable weather patterns here in the Philippines. It's rains every once in a while in December! It's been like this for 2 years now lol!

but I've had a few collections from way befor
e....
A Santa wall decor, hanging on our kitchen partition
A Santa Claus pillow which you can find in our room
A Santa Claus figurine, I got as a gift way back in the 90's
and a Santa Claus candle holder which I received in 2006
Santa Claus placemat, I bought intentionally for the holiday season during the 90's
and candy dish, another gift from a colleague in 2003

my first post on Ruby Tuesday for 2011, here's more...

kraft world

Part of organizing my site is creating kraft world.

Kraft world
is where I will share with you my handicrafts, the things I personally do. It'll be here where I will share as well as develop my learning about various crafts.

Handicrafts is one of the things I might do (together with blogging of course!) in case I become a full time work at home wife and mom.

To begin with I love shabby chic and I'm into recycling.
